Current Updates / Memorial Day Weekend
« Last post by theakeens on March 09, 2020, 07:31:17 am »
I finally have some vacation time. Still on a budget but hoping to see some family if the Coronavirus hasn't caused the world to go into survival or SHTF mode.
Anthony and I were thinking either going up North to Grand Marais Minnesota or Maybe Mount Rushmore in The Dakotas.
A little anxious about the racism related to the Corona Virus. Several Hmong people have been victims due to ignorance.
I would love to see the newlyweds! But totally understandable if you are going on your honeymoon.
We are still playing catch up financially from when I was laid off last fall. Next egg is tapped out at the moment. So we are just trying to limit our travels and fun activities to more affordable options at this point. Any ideas let us know.

I spoke to Dad and he mentioned wanting to go to the Grand Canyon. What do you guys think?

Fly into Las Vegas with an overnight trip to the Grand Canyon? :)

Hi Sheila,

Did you guys decide yet if you guys wanted to buy the house or not yet? See, its hard because once you go house hunting and you were "just looking", then you can find that you get way too attached and like things way more than you expect! Not saying it I bad … just you don't want to "window shop" unless you are ready otherwise YOU WILL BUY!

We are loving California! A lot of things to love like the ASIAN food is amazing! So easily accessible! The homeless population is a huge problem! We have to "get buzzed" in through the door of fast food! It's crazy!

Personally, for Bee and I, we both have never had issues with buying a home and buying or making large purchases even within a few weeks of eachother! As long as you buy your house first and it is closed on, typically your credit only goes down 5 points or so. So it doesn't make that big of a difference! Before Bee and I sold our house, over a 6 month period we have had over 6 times had lenders get us qualified for a new loan AND through this property management company here where we rent and it never affected mine or Bee's credit but take or leave 5-8 points! I was really surprised how it did not affect it much!

Anyways, so happy you guys are planning on being homeowners soon! With it being so expensive out here, I doubt we will be homeowners anytime soon! The property tax is out of this world out here and houses are so expensive. I just drove by a street and they had new build homes that advertised "In the LOW $400,000 for 1788 square feet." I about died!

Anyways, hope we wont be too broke to visit you guys or get together in the future! Love you all.

We're officially selling Rhonda, today, to a private buyer. Carmax was a no-go as far as their offer.

The mortgage will be in JAM's name - not mine! So it does make it easier to purchase a car since our credit isn't tied to each other - his purchase won't affect me and mine won't affect his. JAM fell in love with a house, yesterday, so I'm going to take the tour on Wednesday. If we decide that we really do want it, we'll put in an offer by this Friday.

Totally get you on Emerson needing a yard to play in. Ellie is honestly an inside dog, but she gets absolutely INSANE when she goes out in the snow and gets to jump in a pile of leaves.

It's great that you guys are staying in MN! Close to our family and I know I can depend on you for bringing flowers to mom. <3

Yes you don't want to purchase a car and within a year of buying a house. Don't want your credit to take any hits.

Anthony and I have resigned ourselves to staying in Minnesota and buying a house this Summer. Our lease ends in May. Emerson needs a yard bad. His anxiety is not good with being inside all day. Emma Jean just wants to be in my pocket all day. LOL

Hopefully weather isn't too bad in MI.

Suppose I'll look into home warranties when we actually purchase one. A lot of the homes in our price range are older (1960s - 1990s), so depending on the house we buy, we may or may not get one. As for now, the house searching process is fairly slow. I don't think we'll find "the one" until next year, which we're fine with.

We're putting the Lincoln up for private sale before selling it to Carmax. Not having a winter vehicle for me is nerve-wracking, though. :)
